Lung Shan Temple

Originally built in 1738, Lung Shan temple has been rebuilt on several occasions following fire, earthquake, and bombing. However, it still retains a very traditional flavor. Because the temple was such an important social hub in centuries past, the area surrounding it became a bustling trade center. Snake Alley (once a renowned red-light district) is also only one block away and is crowded every night with tourists, diners, and gawkers who come to see snakes and turtles chopped into savory morsels and served as snacks to anyone who dares try them.
